About this role

Role Summary

The Technical Engineering Leader provides strategic, operational, and technical leadership for multiple engineering teams within Flowserve’s Global Technology & Engineering Center. This position is accountable for end‑to‑end engineering performance, capacity planning, technical governance, and capability development across a portfolio of products, customers, or engineering disciplines.

The role ensures engineering delivery meets business, customer, quality, cost, and compliance objectives, while driving standardization, scalability, and continuous improvement across GTEC. The Technical Engineering Leader partners closely with Business Unit Engineering Leadership, Operations, Quality, and Projects to align engineering execution with global product strategy and regional demand.

In addition to operational excellence, the Technical Engineering Leader plays a key role in talent development, succession planning, and transformation initiatives, strengthening GTEC’s position as a global engineering and technology hub.

Principal Accountabilities - (Outcome Ownership – “Answerable for Results”)

  • Own overall engineering delivery performance across multiple teams, ensuring alignment to RCCP, business priorities, and customer commitments.
  • Lead and develop Engineering Specialist, technical staff, ensuring strong people and technical leadership bench strength and succession readiness.
  • Drive engineering KPIs including OTD, quality, productivity, utilization, cost, and capacity, taking corrective actions at a system level.
  • Ensure consistent application of Flowserve engineering standards, design governance, and technical authority models across teams.
  • Translate business and BU engineering strategy into clear execution plans, resource models, and capability roadmaps for GTEC.
  • Champion continuous improvement, lean engineering, and digital enablement initiatives to improve speed, quality, and scalability.
  • Act as a key escalation point for technical, delivery, and customer issues, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder confidence.
  • Uphold Flowserve values, ethics, safety, and quality culture across all engineering activities.

Principal Responsibilities - (Execution Activities – “Responsible for Doing”)

Engineering Delivery & Portfolio Management

  • Delivery on the assigned scope of Positioner Sustenance and new product development involving Multi-Discipline – Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical and Firmware engineering.
  • Balance demand, capacity, and skills through effective resource planning and workload levelling.
  • Ensure predictable execution through standard work, robust planning, and disciplined change control.

Technical Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards (ISA, IEC, customer specifications).
  • Support Product leaders and engineers in resolving complex technical issues and risk decisions.
  • Review and approve deviations, concessions, and highimpact engineering changes.

People Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead, coach, and mentor individual contributors; provide clear expectations, feedback, and development plans.
  • Drive competency development through IDPs, CPPs, technical academies, and mentoring frameworks.
  • Build a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Cross‑Functional & Global Collaboration

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Projects, and Commercial teams to improve end‑to‑end outcomes.
  • Interface with global BU Site Engineering Managers to ensure alignment to product strategy, design intent, and best practices.
  • Represent GTEC engineering in leadership reviews, audits, and customer engagements as required.

Productivity, Standardization & Transformation

  • Drive reuse, modularization, and standardization to improve first‑time‑right engineering.
  • Champion improvements in process and digital engineering workflows.
  • Lead or support OPEX, Lean, and transformation initiatives at a departmental or site level.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ electronics/ mechatronics engineering discipline.
  • Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience

  • 12–15 years of relevant engineering experience, including order, product, or project engineering.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience OR managing supervisors or multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong exposure to Flowserve or similar industrial products (Valves, electro pneumatic actuation, Digital positioner, flow controllers).
  • Demonstrated success in a global engineering, shared services, or matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, with experience developing teams through mentoring, coaching, and performance management, while building disciplined, process‑oriented engineering organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to leverage data, engineering judgment, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive improvements in quality, productivity, and delivery aligned with business priorities.
  • Engaged leadership style combining hands‑on involvement with effective delegation, enabling alignment and performance across geographically and culturally diverse teams to consistently meet or exceed commitments and deliver results.
  • Proven organizational change and stakeholder management capability, including leading functional improvement initiatives, strengthening cross‑functional collaboration, and communicating complex technical and business topics clearly through concise written and verbal communication.
