Legal Editor - Cases, NZ Primary Law

Are you interested in expanding your knowledge of the law while working on a leading legal research product? We are looking for a Legal Editor to join our agile team.

Our Legal Editors are instrumental in ensuring that our Westlaw cases products deliver on customers’ expectations by ensuring that they are current, relevant, accessible, and accurate.

You will need to have a good understanding of the law, have strong online research skills, and possess a high degree of attention to detail. You will need to have the ability to work in a methodical manner, be capable of expressing information clearly and succinctly, and will be able to respond appropriately and quickly to changes in product publishing or priorities.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Legal Editor, you will:

  • Write summaries for a variety of cases.
  • Classify decisions using our inhouse taxonomy and identify case relationships where relevant.
  • Update case quantum tracker products with subject-specialist content.
  • Utilise AI-powered research and editorial systems daily to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and value-driven outcomes in content development.
  • Participate in wider editorial projects and business groups.

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Legal Editor if your background includes:

  • A law degree and knowledge of the NZ legal system
  • Excellent communication and research skills
  • Ability to interpret, analyse, organise, and communicate complex legal material
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and online legal research platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of its importance from a customer perspective
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond positively to change
